Face-to-face instruction In-person

A course that is completely in person. 100% of the instructional content is delivered in a physical location.

A course may include the use of a learning management system, electronic reading assignments or online discussions to supplement learning.

Directed instruction Directed/guided study A course that involves individualized direct supervision or guidance, typically with no classroom instruction. The schedule is worked out with the supervising instructor or researcher and may be in person, online or some combination of modalities. Details should be established through conversation with the supervising instructor or researcher before registration. Not required to take place on a specific day and time.  RINS
Hybrid-flexible synchronous  Hybrid A minimum of 30% of the course time is completed by the instructor and student physically sharing the same physical space/location at the same time. The remainder of the course time is completed in an online/remote environment (i.e, learning management system). Required to take place on a specific day and time. (Live stream provided to give students the flexibility to interact not in-person.) RONA

All aspects of the course to include instruction, assignment submission and faculty hours, are hosted in an online/remote environment (i.e., learning management system). Blended-flexible synchronous  Blended Between 1% and 29% of the course time is completed by the instructor and student sharing the same physical space/location at the same time. The remainder of the course time is completed in an online/remote environment (i.e, learning management system). Required to take place on a specific day and time.
